Choosing a Color Scheme

Choosing a color scheme can be very intimidating

Is there furniture or a fabric that you need to work with?

Is there a painting that you want to use in the room?

What is the mood you are trying to create?

Color has a language of its own and it has a great deal of influence on mood and personality.

Did you know for example:

The primary colors

·         Red has a tendency to excite and stimulate passion.

·         Yellow is cheerful, energetic and will make a small room seem larger.

·         Blue is calming, relaxing and creates of mood of peace and serenity

The secondary colors:

·         Green is comforting and refreshing and has a very calming influence

·         Violet is comforting, spiritual and creates grandeur and mystery

·         Orange is cheerful and can stimulate appetite

If it is difficult to imagine a room painted green, purple or orange, think about a variation of one of the colors.  Lavender or some variation of violet, peach or some variation of orange, or sage green, are good examples.  For more help with colors go to BenjaminMoore.com.  You can see a room painted in the color you choose.
